At least 3,000 low income residents in this municipality received financial assistance of PHP3,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Tuesday.

The distribution of PHP9 million financial aid was sourced from the DSWD’s Assistance To Individuals in Crisis Situation. It was witnessed by Senator Christopher Lawrence Go.

DSWD said the beneficiaries includes farmers, fisherfolk, elderly, solo parents, and other sectors affected by the pandemic.

Go, along with local and national agency representatives, provided various assistance in the form of food and grocery packs, vitamins, face masks, and face shields.

The senator also handed over volleyballs, basketballs, bicycles, shoes, and mobile tablets. Go also assured the beneficiaries of the government’s support especially to the poor and indigent.

Go said a total of 151 Malasakit Center’s have already been established in the country, helping the poor and indigents in their medical needs.

“We will help you if you cannot afford the hospitalization. Do not worry on the bills because we have the Malasakit Center to help you,” he assured.

Aubrey Cayme, 25, a resident here said government assistance has helped pregnant women like her to avail of crucial health services.

“It is a big help to us. Like me, who is pregnant, I will be able to buy things in preparation for my delivery,” she said in an interview. (PNA)
