The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has taken an extra measure to look after the welfare of its employees.

On Tuesday, DSWD shared to reporters that it has converted the Social Welfare and Development Center for Asia and the Pacific (SWADCAP) in Taguig City into an isolation facility in case of employees with Covid-19.

“The establishment of the facility is in pursuit of the Department’s goal to care for its frontliners, the angels in red vest, amid the pandemic,” Secretary Rolando Bautista said in a statement.

“The way your employees feel is the way your clients will feel. And if your employees don’t feel valued, neither will your clients,” he said, quoting Sybil Stershic, an author.

He added that the DSWD’s major concerns since the Covid-19 pandemic struck are the provision of assistance to the public and to ensure the health and safety of the employees who continue to serve the public.

The facility has a full certification from the Department of Health, according to DSWD.

Employees who will test positive for the virus will be provided with food, vitamins, health kits, and psychosocial support.

To be prioritized are those who are without isolation rooms at home, live in dormitories, cannot be accommodated in facilities of local government units due to the unavailability of rooms, and with mild symptoms. (PNA)
