A total of 2,189 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

These personnel, assigned at the NOCCPO headquarters, 31 city and municipal police stations, and mobile force companies, are either fully vaccinated or have availed of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.

In a virtual press briefing on Tuesday, Lt. Abegael Donasco, spokesperson of NOCPPO, said only 77 personnel remain unvaccinated, 59 of whom are with comorbidities who have yet to be cleared for inoculation.

The rest are already scheduled for vaccination, she added.

Among those already vaccinated is Donasco herself, who availed of the Moderna vaccine, as well as Col. Romeo Palgue, provincial police director, who received the Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) single-dose Janssen jab on August 18 from the Provincial Health Office.

Other vaccine brands received by NOCPPO personnel are Sinovac’s CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer-BioNTech.

Palgue earlier said since the Philippine National Police does not have its own Covid-19 vaccine supply yet for personnel in Negros Occidental, police officers availed of the shots provided by the provincial government and the host-local government units.

Meanwhile, the NOCPPO also reported 16 active Covid-19 cases among its personnel assigned at the provincial headquarters and the various police stations as of Tuesday.

Of its 232 personnel who tested positive for the virus, 214 have recovered while two have died. (PNA)
