The Agusan del Sur provincial government received on Monday a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machine from the Davao City government.
The unit was received by Armando Gomez, chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Agusan del Sur, on Monday, on behalf of Gov. Santiago B. Cane, Jr.
Aside from the RT-PCR machine, the Davao City local government also donated 17 cases of disposable sampling kits to the province.
“The people of Agusan del Sur headed by Gov. Santiago B. Cane Jr. would like to thank the City Government of Davao City through the leadership of Mayor Sara Duterte,” the PDRRMO said in a post on its Facebook Page Monday.
The machine and the sampling kits would help the provincial government in its fight to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the area, the PDRRMO added.
The Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) reported Monday the 43 new Covid-19 cases in the region, 13 of which were from Agusan del Sur.
The agency also reported six new Covid-19 cases in Bayugan City, also in the province.
Records provided by the Agusan del Sur Provincial Health Office showed that the area has recorded a total of 1,125 Covid-19 cases as of January 10.
Of the total cases, 790 have already recovered, with 298 remaining active cases and 37 recorded deaths since the pandemic broke out in March last year. (PNA)
