Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, filed a lawsuit against Google, Twitter, and Facebook, saying that the internet giants are unlawfully suppressing conservative perspectives, Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

Trump stated that he is spearheading class-action lawsuits against the aforementioned social media platforms, as well as their CEOs Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and Sundar Pichai, during a news conference from his golf estate in Bedminster, New Jersey.

He urged the US District Court in Miami, where the lawsuits have been filed, to order an immediate halt to social media companies’ “illegal, shameful censorship of the American people.”

“We are demanding an end to the shadow-banning, a stop to the silencing, and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing, and canceling that you know so well,” he said.

“Our case will prove this censorship is unlawful, it’s unconstitutional, and is completely un-American,” Trump added.

As of writing, no official comments from the tech giants have been released.

This year, Trump’s social media platform was taken away from him after the social media giants said he had broken their laws against promoting violence.

Hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6 following a speech in which he repeated his baseless claims that his election loss was due to widespread fraud, which has been refuted by several courts, state election authorities, and members of Congress.

Following the storming of the US Capitol by hundreds of Trump supporters on January 6, Twitter permanently suspended US President Donald Trump’s account, with 88 million followers, on January 8, citing the potential of additional encouragement of violence.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company posted.
