The city government will bring its vaccination campaign to the school campuses later this week as it continues to ramp up the inoculation of young Bacolodnons.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, medical deputy of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), said in a statement on Thursday they will start with five schools, which have provided lists of vaccine recipients.

On November 5, the campaign will start at St. Scholastica’s Academy, where 300 students are set to be vaccinated.

It will be followed by Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, with 600 vaccinees – Nov. 10; St. John’s Institute, 660 – Nov. 12; La Consolacion College-Bacolod, 600 – November 12, and Trinity Christian School, 460 – November 13.

Sorongon said the EOC-TF is awaiting the schedule for Bacolod Tay Tung High School while the University of Saint La Salle-Integrated School and Saint Joseph School-La Salle are finalizing the master list of their vaccinees.

On Thursday, more teens with comorbidities were able to avail of Covid-19 jabs at the Riverside College campus adjacent to the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital.

Also on Wednesday, the city government conducted simultaneous vaccination for minors aged 12 to 17, with a total of 920 vaccine recipients administered with Pfizer shots in three sites.

These included some 300 children with comorbidities inoculated at Riverside College as well as 300 at the SMX Convention Center and 320 at Ayala Malls Capitol Central from the general pediatric population.

“The kids are setting the example. We noted that parents, who are unvaccinated, consequently, got jabbed because they are accompanying their minor children to the vaccination sites,” Sorongon said.

During the launch of the pediatric vaccination on October 29, some 266 minors with co-morbidities were also inoculated in Bacolod. (PNA)
