To intensify calls for voter registration, Eleksyon 2022 Koalisyon composed of multi-sectoral and non-partisan groups in the country has signed a partnership with Advocacy Partners Asia, the partner non-government organization of PAGEONE Group, to undertake coordinated activities to encourage qualified voters to register and vote in the 2022 elections.

In a memorandum of agreement signed last April 22, 2021, both parties committed to use their resources to encourage seven million prospective Filipino voters to register or renew their voting status by September 30, 2021, the last day of registration for the upcoming 2022 national election.

The coalition, composed of over 29 multi-sectoral and non-partisan groups was formed on February 17, 2021. “We are excited to work with such a diverse coalition and execution partners, all unified around the same goal: 7 additional million voters for 2022,” the Coalition’s National Communications Head Pao Peña said.

The coalition is working with Advocacy Partners Asia to call on voters of all backgrounds to exercise the right to register and the right to vote as collective power in a democracy through their partner’s social media channels. The partnership campaign initiative is to reach both social media and the grassroots networks of its convening members.

As of January 2021, only a little over 2 million new voters have been registered. The partnership with PAGEONE, the country’s leading public relations agency, is expected to drive voters’ awareness on the importance of participating in the 2022 elections.

“The 2022 elections are critical to our future as a nation. We believe that it is vital that as many as qualified voters as there are in the country should be able to register and vote, which is their constitutionally protected right to exercise their power as citizens to get involved in our democracy,” former Comelec Chairman Christian S. Monsod said.

“By not registering now you lose that power by default,” Monsod added.

With only less than 6 months until registration ends in September, the coalition will host a virtual event in partnership with major groups including media networks, celebrities, elected leaders, and social media influencers on May 22, 2021.

“The Eleksyon 2022 Koalisyon: Magparehistro. Bumoto. Para Sa Bukas Natin” is on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. More information about the coalition including downloadables can be accessed via https://koalisyon.carrd.co/.
