Anita Linda, who was the oldest actress in the Philippines, passed away on June 10 at 6:15 am. She was 95.
Linda’s daughter, Francesca Legaspi, confirmed the news to the press via text message.
Meanwhile, “Presa” director Adolf Alix Jr. mourned over the loss of his “lola” on social media.
“This is a very sad day for me. I am trembling as I am gathering my thoughts. She is like my Lola and part of my family,” Alix penned. “The great Anita Linda has passed away this morning at 6:15 am at 95. Prayers for her soul. My condolences to her family and her children, Francesca Legaspi, and Fred Osburn.”
Linda was born Alice Lake on November 23, 1924. She started her acting career in the 40’s, mostly with roles playing the love interest. Linda later on starred in award-winning pictures such as Lino Brocka’s “Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kinulang” and Emmanuel Quindo Palo’s “Sta. Niña”.
Dubbed as a Philippine Screen Legend, Linda has bagged numerous acting awards including Best Actress at the Asia Pacific Film Festival Award for her titular role in “Lola”.
