The Philippines placed 46th among the 104 countries serving the most expensive coffee, with an average price of $3.02 or about PHP 152.00 per cup, according to a study undertaken by SavingSpot.

“Whether filtered or pressed, prepared with steamed milk, cardamom, liquor or sugar, and whether it’s pronounced cafe, koffee or qahwah, coffee is loved in every part of the globe,” SavingSpot said.

SavingSpot compiled a list of international capitals and studied the average cost of a cup in each location to have a better understanding of coffee usage and price throughout the world.

Using TripAdvisor, SavingSpot calculated the average price of an espresso, latte and cappuccino across five random cafés in every capital city.

South Korea topped the list with $7.77 or about PHP 392.00 per cup. On the other hand, Iran is the country where you can find the cheapest coffee, with only $0.46 or about PHP 23 per cup.

The researchers also utilized Statista to figure out how many kilograms of coffee each person consumes in a year.

The Philippines, at 46th rank, consumed 1.3 kilos of coffee per person per year. While top-seeded South Korea consumed 1.7 kilos of coffee per person each year.

Luxembourg topped the list of nations that consume the most coffee per capita, with 11.1 kilos per year.

Understanding the world’s coffee habits and expenses, according to SavingSpot, may help people comprehend local history, spiritual traditions, and beliefs. Although coffee is virtually universal, the cultures that surround it are varied.

Doha Qatar ranks 2nd with $6.79 or about PHP 342.00 per cup, Beirut, Lebanon, and Kuwait City clenches the 3rd and 4th with $5.71 or about PHP 288.00 per cup, while Bern, Switzerland lands on the 5th spot with $5.65 or about PHP 285.00 per cup.
