De La Salle University Chorale brings music to our Filipino hearts after winning the Grand Prix Champion in the 2023 Busan Chorale Festival and Competition.

On October 21, Mr. Joel Aquino, the chorale’s lead conductor, shared a video of the group jumping for joy after winning 1st place in two different categories, advancing them to the Grand Prix round.

He wrote in his caption, “That moment when we received the news that DLSU Chorale won both the ethnic and the classical mixed categories in Busan, South Korea, at 13°C, which felt like 8°C with a strong draft! Our bodies were cold, but our hearts and minds were on fire!”

The same day evening, the Grand Prix round was held at Busan Cinema Center around 5 PM, in which they performed their winning song, “Iddemdem Malida.”

As Grand Prix Champions, the group won a cash prize of 20,000,000 Korean Won, or Php 1,000,000, and Aquino was awarded the Best Conductor Award on the same night.

The chorale group extends their gratitude to the university’s Culture and Arts Office, administrators, family and friends, and all who supported their success.

De La Salle University Chorale has come home to perform in “Triumphs of Andrea: The Madz Et Al Choral Festival 2023” on October 28, 7:30 PM at UP-Institute of Civil Engineering, Diliman.
