Registrants who are trying to beat the September 30 deadline for the 2022 polls are advised to always observe minimum public health standards (MPHS) to avoid being infected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“We always emphasize the need to follow our minimum public health standards, especially if we have activities that promote crowding and possibility of close contacts,” said Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, medical officer III at the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD), in a presser on Monday.

Natalaray said they should always wear a face mask and face shield, and practice frequent hand washing and safe physical distancing.

She said engineering and administrative controls include a well-ventilated area, adequate space that will provide room for physical distancing, and protective barriers for those giving the services.

“We also have strategies to limit the number of people who can go to our registration area, such as provision of a schedule on a specific time,” Natalaray added.

It would be better, she said, if the public would be informed ahead of what they have to prepare prior to going to the center.

The registration for voters is expected to end on September 30.

In a previous interview, Iloilo City elections assistant officer Jonathan Sayno said the registration would be held at the Robinsons Place main branch in the city proper until September 30.

Sayno said registrants will not be entertained if they do not wear face masks and face shields.

He said around 1,000 registrants can be accommodated daily, adding that the majority are new voters. (PNA)
