Growing up, you may have watched movies where nerds (or smart people) are made fun of because of who they are, and we’re here to tell you that being smart is actually cool!

Michelle Obama has always been a top achiever. She said, “I never cut class. I loved getting A’s, I liked being smart. I liked being on time. I thought being smart is cooler than anything in the world.”

Despite experiencing racial discrimination during college, Michelle did not let those affect her and eventually graduated with honors. She then studied in Harvard Law School then proceeded to practice her profession until she met her future husband, Barack Obama.

When Barack decided to run for presidency, Michelle sacrificed her work to fully support his campaign.

She was not just a First Lady, Michelle Obama was THE First Lady. During Barack’s term, Michelle devoted her time to address social issues including poverty, health, and inequality. She was an advocate for the women and the LGBT community. In addition, she pioneered a campaign called Let’s Move! to address the childhood obesity.

By the way, all of these were accomplished while she was juggling being a mom to two daughters, which is truly motivating to working mothers everywhere.
