Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro on Thursday said the training for the city’s first batch of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccinators has been completed.

In a statement, Teodoro said the first batch of nine vaccinators includes doctors and nurses and they would be followed by five more batches until the number of the city’s Covid-19 vaccinators reaches 120.

The medical personnel were trained for two days to determine the “medical eligibility” of persons who will be vaccinated, Teodoro added.

“Covid-19 vaccination (for our people) is our priority for this year,” he added.

Aside from training more vaccinators, he said they are now determining possible vaccination sites and studying the option of acquiring a mobile vaccine carrier which will transport medical personnel involved in the program to the homes of those scheduled for vaccination.

Teodoro said so far they have five medical-grade refrigerators capable of storing around 35,000 to 40,000 vaccine doses.

He said the vaccination of front-liners, both in the medical and non-medical fields, and the working population will help in preserving the “sustenance and stimulation of economic activities” in the city. (PNA)
