Some 23,000 families in this city will receive Noche Buena packages this Christmas season courtesy of the city government.

In a media interview on Wednesday, Mayor Mark Christian “Markee” Chua said each package will include products from the city’s barangays (villages).

“Preparations are ongoing. Each family in Batac will receive Noche Buena packs but the exact amount has yet to be confirmed,” he said.

“The important thing here is that the products to be given will come from the barangays of Batac.”

The distribution of Noche Buena package to every home is an annual tradition in Batac City to spread joy during the holiday season, which coincides with the month-long celebration of its Empanada Festival.

Aside from its famous deep fried empanada, Batac City is also known for its pancit and miki noodles, honey-dipped banana chips, rice crackers, peanut butter, authentic garlic longganisa, bagnet and other meat products.

“With unified efforts, teamwork and prayers, we made it possible. Thank you to the city government of Batac led by Mayor Markee Chua for the trust. Hope to receive more orders,” the Camguidan Multi-Purpose Cooperative said in a message after completing the delivery of rice crackers and banana chips to the city government.

One of the top performing cooperatives in the province, the Camguidan Multi-Purpose Cooperative is known for its rice crispy products that are used in school feeding programs.

The cooperative welcomed the inclusion of their product to the Noche Buena package, calling it a fulfillment of its mission to give local residents healthy options for their snacks. (PNA)
