Twenty-nine farmer-groups in Agusan del Sur province were provided with various farm machinery and equipment in a distribution activity conducted on Monday.
Governor Santiago Cane, Jr. and Engr. Jingle Paloma, the focal person of the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization in the Caraga Region (PhilMech-13), led the machinery’s release at the provincial capitol in Prosperidad town.
“Of the 29 groups, 21 were the recipient of nearly PHP48.3 million worth of farm machinery and equipment from PhilMech,” Paloma said.
Each of the 21 organizations received over PHP2.2 million worth of mini four-wheel drive farm tractors. The other eight farmer groups were also provided various farm machinery and equipment worth PHP41.9 million through the provincial government’s Sustainable Lowland Agriculture Development program.
The machinery includes four rice combine harvesters, four mini four-wheel drive hand tractors, and four corn combine harvesters.
In a statement on Monday, Cane said the equipment “will surely improve the productivity of our farmers in producing a more sustainable and secured food for Agusan del Sur and for the rest of the country.” (PNA)
