The cash assistance for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) survivors is continuously being rolled out as part of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the city government here.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said Friday 434 individuals who recovered from Covid-19 have received the local SAP since the city government rolled out the financial assistance this week.

The payout is being carried out by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the City Treasurer’s Office, Salazar said.

Maria Socorro Rojas, CSWDO chief, said more than 3,000 Covid-19 survivors would comprise the first batch of recipients of the local SAP.

Rojas said the City Health Office has provided them with the list of recipients entitled to receive the cash assistance.

Those who experienced moderate to mild cases are entitled to PHP3,000 each while those who suffered severe infection are entitled to PHP5,000 each.

“Our team is now in Curuan district, distributing the cash assistance to the identified recipients,” she said.

Salazar cited the need for local government funds to be returned to the people to help them improve their plight amid the public health crisis.

She assured that all those severely affected by the pandemic would be assisted.

As of August 19, the city has 12,389 confirmed cases, with 11,643 recoveries, 130 active cases, and 616 deaths. (PNA)
