The provincial government recognized 483 barangays in Iloilo for maintaining their dengue-free status from Jan. 1 to Oct. 15, 2025, each receiving PHP5,000 in financial incentives.

Iloilo Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon said the provision of incentives is mandated under Executive Order No. 162, series of 2025, with a total funding support of around PHP2.5 million.

“The data was based on the official records of the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit. The financial incentives will be used to enhance and sustain barangay-level dengue prevention and control initiatives such as community-based vector control measures, health education campaigns and capacity-building activities,” Quiñon said in an interview.

She said barangays nearest to Iloilo City attended the ceremony on Monday, while the rest can claim their incentives from the Provincial Treasury.
