The Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5) awarded PHP2.4 million worth of livelihood starter kits to 50 beneficiaries of its integrated livelihood program in Daet, Camarines Norte.

In a report Thursday, Johana Vi Gasga, DOLE-Bicol spokesperson, said the beneficiaries, part of Project DAET (Diversified Approaches to Economic Thriving), received livelihood tools and materials aimed at supporting and jumpstarting their chosen enterprises.

She said the recipients received kits for food vending, baking, sewing, Nego-karts, barber services, fishing, feeds production, meat vending, welding, t-shirt printing, nail care services and masonry.

Meanwhile, DOLE Bicol Regional Director Imelda Gatinao said the livelihood opportunities provide beneficiaries with a wider range of options to earn and sustain their income.

“This initiative is not just about providing resources; we are helping families build stronger and more resilient livelihoods that fit their skills and meet the needs of their communities,” she said in a statement.

Gene Norte, 53, a solo parent who received a Nego-kart for her street-food vending business, said it has been a dream to start her own business and secure a steady source of income to support her family.

Ronnie Boy Cabalquinto, 44, a welder, thanked the government for the livelihood support. (PNA)
