Six associations in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental have received a total of PHP2.7 million in seed capital fund under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

In a report on Wednesday, the DSWD-Western Visayas (Region 6) said each association received a check worth PHP450,000 to operate and manage their respective livelihood projects.

The beneficiaries included the Cemeco Culipapa Farmers Association, which received funding for agricultural farm equipment services; Sangke Farmworkers Association, agricultural farm inputs and products trading; San Rafael Farmworkers Association and Asosasyon sang Mananagat sa Bulwangan, water refilling station; Barangay II Farmers and Vendors Association, general merchandise; Talacagay Women’s Vendors Association, community store.

“Through the SCF, the associations can manage their proposed livelihood projects and eventually generate income that would help them improve their socio-economic conditions,” the DSWD-6 said.

A series of capability-building and monitoring activities will also be conducted to ensure the growth and sustainability of the projects, it added.

The SLP is a community-based program, which provides capacity building to improve the program participants’ socio-economic status implemented either through the microenterprise development or the employment facilitation track. (PNA)
