The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Northern Mindanao (DSWD-10) started its three-day distribution of cash aid under the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program to 6,854 city residents.

In an interview on Monday, DSWD-10 Information Officer Roshiel Galia said the beneficiaries were categorized into three groups, each of which can receive up to PHP2,000 monthly until December.

“The more than 6,000 beneficiaries receiving today belong to Group 2,” she said, referring to residents assessed as poor and near-poor who are not members of any existing DSWD programs, such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the Walang Gutom Program.

She also said those under Group 1 are 4Ps members who will receive additional payout that will be transmitted directly to their cash cards and food redemption schedules.

Those under Group 3 belong to low-income earners based on the Community-Based Monitoring System and the Social Security System database.

The payout will be finalized as soon as the cross-matching of the final list is completed, according to Galia.

UPLIFT is a government cash assistance program providing monthly financial aid to help vulnerable families cope with rising energy and food costs. (PNA)
