The National Telecommunications Commission in Region 11 (NTC-11) has earned PHP123 million in revenues in 2019, an official said Tuesday.
In a press briefing here on Tuesday, NTC-11 Director Nelson Cañete, said Davao Region ranked second to the National Capital Region (NCR) in revenues generated by the different regional offices of the agency throughout the country last year.
Cañete also said that it was the first in the history of NTC-11 to hit the revenue figures.
“We were able to surpass our quota in 2019 set at PHP66 million with the innovation we adopted,” he said, attributing the surge to various initiatives such as the mobile registration in the different areas of the region.
“We really don’t have the capacity to really check the actual number on the ground,” he said, adding their limitations did not deter them from improving on their services.
Meanwhile, Cañete said that they also hear an average of 30 complaints from the public every month. He said the complaints range from poor internet connection, over-billing, and lack of connectivity.
Cañete vowed NTC-11 would be more aggressive in terms of monitoring and service delivery.
He said NTC-11 will continue to implement its regulatory oversight to ensure that radio equipment operators, radio and television stations, and cable firms comply with the law. (PNA)
