The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the total number of Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad has increased to 569 as of April 7.

“Reports on our overseas Filipinos as of today show an increase of confirmed Covid-19 cases at 6 percent across the regions of Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and the Middle East/Africa with most of the new cases and deaths recorded in the Americas,” the agency said in a statement.

A total of 217 cases were recorded in the Asia Pacific region, 192 in Europe, 61 in the Middle East/Africa, and 99 cases in the Americas.

Of the total number, 65 have died– one in the Asia Pacific region, 26 in Europe, three in the Middle East/Africa, and a total of 35 in the Americas.

Meanwhile, 346 are undergoing treatment and 158 have recovered.

The DFA said the number of recoveries significantly increased at 19 percent, the highest in the past two weeks.

“We owe the increasing number of recoveries to all the brave health workers across the globe who continue to risk their lives to ensure the health of our kababayan (countrymen) abroad. The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, is with you in this global fight against Covid-19,” the agency said. (PNA)
