The City Health Office here activated Monday another vaccination center, thereby accelerating the inoculation program of the government in this southern port city.

The Zamboanga Chong Hua High School vaccination center catered to an initial 150 employees under the Lucio Tan Group of Companies using the company-purchased AstraZeneca vaccines.

In addition to the employees, some 100 individuals who registered through the zambocovax.com online registration were also inoculated with Sinovac vaccines allocated by the Department of Health.

So far, there are already 39 vaccination sites here, including shopping malls, schools, and village health centers.

In a statement, Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar expressed her gratitude to the private sector for their support and cooperation “as we share the common goal of reducing the spread of Covid-19″.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said that 90,497 residents from different priority groups have been fully vaccinated since inoculation began in March this year.

Miravite said the figure represents 12.9 percent of the 700,000 eligible population for inoculation. (PNA)
