Nearly 89 percent or 1,502,134 individuals of the 1.7 million target population in Quezon City have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, data showed that the city has administered a total of 3,189,857 Covid-19 vaccine doses.
“Kabilang na rito ang bilang ng mga naturukan ng single-dose vaccine na Janssen. Malaking bagay ito lalo na ngayong may Delta variant (Also included is the number of individuals who have received the single-dose Janssen vaccine. This is important considering the dominant and highly transmissible Delta variant),” read the city government’s post on its social media page.
Persons who have received at least one dose of the life-saving shots have reached 1,781,453 million or 104.79 percent of the target population.
A total of 1,408,404 or 87.68 percent have received their second dose while 93,730 persons have received the single-dose Janssen vaccine.
QC Vax to Normal co-chair Joseph Juico told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that if the target population remains at 70 percent, the city government is expecting to achieve population protection by the second week of November.
“We will continue to vaccinate the rest of our adult population and we are now closing in on administering the first dose to 1.8 million QCitizens,” Juico said.
If the target is raised to 90 percent to include minors from 12 to 17 years old, the city’s target population will also be raised to 2.1 million from the current 1.7 million target to achieve population protection. (PNA)
