Award-winning actor Arjo Atayde will play as the newest “Cattleya Killer” in the upcoming international thriller project of ABS-CBN, The Rebirth of Cattleya Killer.

Atayde will portray the main character, a charismatic serial killer who preys on unfaithful wives to their husbands, which was originally played by Aga Mulach on the 1996 film Sa Aking Mga Kamay.

Director Ruel Bayani, head of ABS-CBN International Production shared his remarks about Atayde. “Arjo is the best choice to top bill the series because he has a proven track record of giving justice to diverse roles he has portrayed through the years,” he said.

“His depth and range as an actor will definitely give a fresh take on this 1996 classic,” he added.

The said thriller series will be directed by Dan Villegas, who is known for his excellence in cinematography and won the Best Director award at the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival for his movie English Only, Please.

Director Villegas will be working with the local producers of another Almost Paradise and ABS-CBN international co-production.

Atayde established his name in the Philippine industry in which he was known for his role as Benjo Malayan in the iWant TFC series Bagman and won Best Actor in the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards.

According to Atayde, modernization is the only difference between the 1996 film and The Rebirth of Cattleya Killer.

“Practically it’s the same story, same personality, same everything. I think the only difference is the twist in the story… it is modernized and also ako po I can’t do what Tito Aga gives… I (will) try to do my best,” he said in the PUSHTV interview.

Updates on the upcoming adaptation movie The Rebirth of Cattleya Killer have yet to be confirmed.
