The first season of ABS-CBN’s award-winning community singing game show “Everybody, Sing!” ended on a high note after 100 Taal survivors won the P2 million jackpot prize last Sunday (October 11) on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z.

With 17 seconds left on the clock, the songbayanan were able to guess all ten song titles correctly to become the seventh jackpot winner of the program overall. They are also the first to win P2 million among the sectors featured in the “100 Songbayanan Special,” which are episodes of “Everybody, Sing!” that were taped before the pandemic began last year.

An emotional Vice Ganda hugged it out and celebrated the sweet victory with the winners who at that time were still recovering from the trauma and losses due to the Taal volcano eruption. Among them were a young couple Warren and Kathrina, who just had a baby.

Jay R, another member of the songbayanan, also took the moment to express his gratitude. “Maraming, maraming salamat Vice.

Umiiyak tayo dahil tayong lahat ay nagdidiwang at nagbubunyi,” added the 2021 Asian Academy Creative Awards national winner for Best Entertainment Program Host. “Everybody, Sing!” also won as national winner for Best Music/Dance Program.

Starting June 5 this year, Vice led the show in bringing light and joy to 32 different groups of Filipinos, including those heavily affected by the pandemic and those deemed as our nation’s modern heroes because of their service and sacrifice.

Prior to the Taal survivors, the songbayanans of community pantry volunteers, massage therapists, teachers, PUV drivers, call center agents, and factory workers also triumphed in the jackpot round, each winning P500,000. Playing during the pandemic, the groups only had 25 players each to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols.
