Censorship By Another Name?

Censorship often arrives cloaked in a professional tone, as seen in the PCO’s recent media accreditation attempt. The withdrawal may quell immediate backlash, but it reveals a deeper challenge ahead: ensuring journalistic freedom is respected in an era when access to information can be easily restricted.

The Philippine Carabao Center officially launched the first-ever 24/7 dairy products vending machine on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, via live broadcast on the DA-PCC’s Facebook page.

In a Facebook post, PCC said that the automated machine aims to promote the production of local dairy farmers and make them conveniently and easily accessible to a wider range of consumers.

Marivic Orge, DA-PCC’s Central Dairy Collecting and Processing Facility Plant Manager, demonstrated how to use the vending machine and considered the product as a new marketing scheme in this time of the pandemic.

“This will be useful for our ‘kababayans’ who want to patronize our dairy farmers’ products but are unable to at times when the Milka Krem store is already closed. It offers fast service and prime location to ensure that you can still enjoy dairy products any time at your convenience,” Orge said.

Moreover, to make the project feasible, PCC teamed up with the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Developmental OneStorePh and Luzon State University – Central Luzon Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium.

Present during the launch were DA-PCC Deputy Executive Director for Admin and Finance Dr. Caro Salces, Deputy Executive Director for Production and Research Dr. Claro Mingala, Carabao-Based Enterprise Development Section Officer-in-Charge Joel Cabading, and former DA-PCC Executive Director Dr. Libertado Cruz.

According to PCC, the products available in the vending machine include pasteurized milk, choco milk, rice milk, yogurt, pastillas, polvoron, and milkaroons.
