The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program in Antique resumed Thursday after it temporarily stopped on Dec. 30, 2021.

Antique Integrated Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo said vaccines were again offered to the public at the Binirayan Gymnasium here and in other municipalities of the province.

“We are now intensifying our vaccination hoping that we could reach our targeted population,” he said in an interview.

He also encouraged those unvaccinated to be inoculated to be protected against the virus, especially with the current threat of the Omicron variant.

“Please take the opportunity now to be vaccinated for the Covid-19 vaccine really works,” he said.

IPHO Infectious Diseases Cluster in-charge Sheree Vego said as of December 30, there are 267,142 individuals already vaccinated or equivalent to 62 percent of their target 432,452 population.

“The 267,142 individuals had been vaccinated with at least first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine,” she said.

Vego added that they still have to vaccinate 165,863 individuals before they could reach their target.

IPHO Information Officer Irene Dulduco assured they have enough Covid-19 vaccines from the Department of Health.

Currently, they have about 96,000 available doses of different brands – Sinovac, Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca.

“We will be catering everyone who walks in to the Binirayan Gymnasium today,” she said.

The vaccination at the Binirayan Gymnasium is every Thursday and Friday for walk-in clients while the Municipal Health Offices (MHOs) of the 18 towns also accommodate residents based on their assigned schedules. (PNA)
