Popular K-dramas have won the hearts of millions of fans around the world over the years. Thanks to Webtoon, a type of digital comic app that originated in South Korea and is typically intended to be read on computers and smartphones. Because of the success of Webtoon authors and the popularity of their works, many Webtoon comics have been adapted into series, with many appearing on Netflix.

Here are the 5 most popular Webtoon-based K-dramas, ranging from thrillers to romance:

1. All Of Us Are Dead

This Webtoon-based turned Netflix adaptation follows a group of students stuck in a high school and finds themselves in a tough spot as they strive to be saved from a zombie outbreak in their school, All of Us Are Dead accumulated 236.2 million hours of streaming for the week between January and shocking the world with its thriller, coming-of-age zombie apocalypse.

2. Itaewon Class

This K-drama, starring Park Seo-joon and Kim Da-mi, is about Park Sae-ro-yi (Park) and his pursuit of rage against the Jangga Group, which is liable for his father’s death.

To fight with the food conglomerate, he opens Danbam, a pub in Itaewon that he hopes will be popular enough to rival Jangga Group. Unfortunately, he lacks business management skills, so he recruits the advice of a social media star Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi).

Itaewon class is one of the most talked-about shows, and Park Seo-bowl joon’s haircut caused quite a stir online.

3. Business Proposal

It’s an ongoing series about an office worker, Shin Ha-ri (Kim Se-jeong), who ends up going on a blind date with her company’s CEO, Kang Tae-mu (Ahn Hyo-seop), instead of her buddy, Jin Young-seo (Seol In-ah).

Ha-ri and Tae-mu agree to a “fake date” in order to appease mu’s grandfather who is eager for his grandson to marry. In return, Ha-ri gets money to help her family in exchange for their agreement.

4. Hellbound

Hell Bound narrates the story of unearthly creatures who seem to and issue a ruling condemning people to hell. Among the chaos and havoc, a new religious group known as The New Truth gains clout.

Some, however, are skeptical of the group’s activities and decide to look into their engagement in the strange hauntings.

Hellbound, which earned 111 million hours in November of last year, became every Netflix user’s obsession after Squid Game.

5. Sweet Home

This Netflix adaptation follows a quiet high school student who shifts into a rented place after losing his family. Strange monsters begin to appear within his apartment building one day, and Hyun-su must fight to survive.

In the first week of its release in December 2020, Sweet Home was watched by 22 million paid subscribers worldwide.
