The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has commended the United Nations-World Food Programme (UN-WFP) for its unwavering support as a key partner in providing logistical assistance and delivery of relief items to local government units (LGUs) affected by various weather disturbances in the last couple of weeks.

Data from the DSWD’s National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB) showed that the UN body assisted in delivering about 27,000 Family Food Packs (FFPs), 8,500 hygiene kits, 2,500 kitchen kits, 25,000 pieces of regular slotted cartons and 40,000 pieces of 3-kilo rice bags to victims of floods in Region 9.

The UN-WFD also delivered 8,500 boxes of FFPs, 86 kitchen kits, and 1,000 sleeping kits in the Caraga region.

For Region 10, the UN-WFD also helped in delivering 15,300 FFPs, 3,000 hygiene kits, 2,000 kitchen kits, 280 family tents and 2,000 sleeping kits.

The DSWD also extended gratitude to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) under the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) for immediately mobilizing assets and personnel to ensure that all areas affected by heavy rains due to low pressure area could immediately receive relief items.
