International streaming platform Discovery+ announced the end of its subscription services after providing shows for almost two years in the Philippines.

After some netizens noticed its app and website glitch, Discovery+ has finally spoken about its “ending of service” rumors.

Warner Bros. Discovery, the owner of the streaming platform, reviewed the content and streaming proposition of the online website in the Philippines before deciding to forfeit its services.

“This means from Apr 27th, 2023, the discovery+ website and app in the Philippines will be closing permanently, and you will no longer be able to watch shows on discovery+ Philippines,” Discovery+ announced on its website.

With its closing of services, Discovery+ also said that its app and website will no longer be available after April 27.

“You may still be able to open the app, but you will no longer be able to watch any content. In case you uninstall the app, you will not be able to find it again on the Google Play store and Apple App store.” the streaming platform announced.

Along with its service closure, the streaming platform clarified that accounts created in the Philippines cannot also be used in other countries as they will be permanently ceased.

Even though the platform’s closure still has a month left, Discovery+ also emphasized that they will no longer accept updates or new subscriptions.

For its subscribers, the platform reassured them that they could still access their favorite shows on other local linear channels.

Also, the said ceasing of services was clarified to only be done in the Philippines and will still be available to other global markets.
