The provincial government of Pangasinan has partnered with Miss World Philippines Organization for this year’s Limgas na Pangasinan, a province-wide beauty pageant, providing the winners with an opportunity to automatically compete at the national level.

In an interview on Wednesday, Limgas na Pangasinan executive chairperson Maan Tuazon-Guico said the winners who would be crowned on April 29 would have titles, including Limgas Miss World Philippines and Limgas Miss Grand National Philippines.

“The winner will take home PHP200,000 and will be the ambassador of Pangasinan. Through this, (the winners) will have the province’s support not just financially but we will also guide them throughout every step of the way in winning the (national) crown,” she said.

Guico said the Limgas competition is more than just a showcase of looks but also provides a platform for women to develop their character, and showcase their talent and intelligence.

“Through Limgas 2023, Pangasinan women will have the opportunity to develop their public speaking skills, gain confidence, and become role models and they also learn the importance of community service and giving back to the community. Most especially, beauty pageants bring women from all walks of life creating camaraderie,” she said.

She added it is also a celebration of diversity and inclusivity as it gives the province the avenue to showcase culture and heritage.

Each of the 25 candidates will have the chance to represent their respective municipalities and promote their arts, culture, and tradition.

“The candidates will be joining cleanup drives. There will be a cultural costume and talent competition,” Guico said.

She added that the pageant also promotes the inclusion of other stakeholders, including Pangasinense designers like Rian Fernandez, who designed the gown of Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel and Miss Cambodia.

“He is the designer for the wardrobe of the final Top 12 and the production number of the candidates. But for the preliminary, we want to advocate other designers to make others in the industry feel involved and important,” she said.
