Despite her injury, actress and former beauty queen Charlene Gonzales was able to finish strong during the Boston Marathon 2023.

In her Instagram account, Gonzales shared her journey as she participated in this year’s Boston Marathon under the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, a charity for youth who want to engage with art studies.

“Art helps cultivate our being and soul and it is something I truly believe in,” the actress said regarding her chosen charity to participate in.

After the marathon, Gonzales shared some footage of her finishing the event strong, even if she was not in good condition when it started.

“I ran with an injury today and in the beginning of the race today.. my nutrition/hydration fell and got lost on the course,” she said.

Gonzales disclosed that her injury was the reason she postponed her prior training before the event.

“First time I had no base training and went straight to marathon training of 3-4 months. On my last month unfortunately I was dealing with an injury which lead me to skip some training sessions,” she said.

Despite this, Gonzales showed her passion and determination to finish the marathon not only for herself but also for her chosen charity.

The actress received positive notes from her family and friends in the industry for her fighting spirit to help others through the Boston Marathon.

“Congratulations Charlene! So glad you made it through! I ran Boston with an injury too and I was in tears in the last 100m as I could barely walk as I crossed the finish line,” Anthony Pangilinan said.

With the support that she gained from her loved ones, Gonzales expressed her gratitude, most especially to her husband, Aga Muhlach, for constantly guiding her during the marathon.
Along with her recent milestone, the actress also finished several marathons, including the Berlin and Chicago Marathon in 2018 and the London Marathon in 2019.
