The city government of Alaminos on Friday launched its barangay caravan that aims to bring its frontline services to the residents of far-flung villages here.

Mayor Arth Brian Celeste said the residents would save 30 minutes of travel time and fare as well as ensure convenience through this program.

“Iikot city hall to barangays especially far-flung barangays para ilapit serbisyo. Hopefully, makatipid sila sa byahe, ma-lessen yong gastos nila sa pamasahe, at yong convenience so matutulungan talaga sila (The city hall will go to the barangays especially the far-flung villages to make the services accessible to them. Hopefully, they would save in travel time, lessen their expenses, and have the convenience so it would really be beneficial to them),” he said in an interview.

The services to be offered to the residents are medical check-ups, distribution of vegetable seeds, registry system for basic sectors in agriculture enrollment and consultation, issuance of persons with disabilities and solo parent identification cards, food bank feeding for the elderly, mobile registration clinic of the City Civil Registrar, consultancy for associations and cooperatives, collection of real property tax, and job referral and placement of the Public Employment Services Office.

Services of the City Veterinary Office such as deworming, castration, registration of pets, and administering anti-rabies vaccines are also available.

There will also be the issuance of a checklist for the orientation of new businesses, consultation for tricycle franchises, and boat permit registration.

The City Legal Office will also offer legal assistance and advice while there will also be free haircut services.

“We plan to do it on a monthly basis since we cannot do it every day because of the logistics and the preparations,” Celeste said.

The mayor added he will personally go to the barangays.

“I will be there and I don’t want to miss the opportunity to be able to talk to our kababayans,” he said.

The Alaminos Barangay Caravan will go around the city’s 39 villages, one barangay every month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., prioritizing the far-flung areas to bring the city government’s frontline services.

Celeste said the individual departments have been going to the barangays but, this time it will be a one-stop-shop for the city government’s frontline services. (PNA)
