Three micro-enterprises here are recipients of PHP1.245 million in livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

These include the Mabandata 110 Unload Association, South Women’s Association, and Mainuswagon Mavistafehan Association, a report on Friday showed.

“The funding assistance will contribute to the growth and success of the beneficiaries’ respective livelihood ventures, making a positive impact on the local economy and the lives of those involved,” said the city’s Department of Social Services and Development, which provides support to the beneficiaries.

The Mabandata 110 Unload Association, which intends to establish an enterprise in beverage wholesaling and retailing, received the assistance of PHP450,000 while the South Women’s Association was given PHP420,000 to support its mushroom production project.

The Mainuswagon Mavistafehan Association was granted PHP375,000 for its frozen food retailing business.

An additional grant will be provided to the beneficiaries if they can sustain their livelihood project for three years.

The SLP, which includes unemployed and under-employed poor families as the target clientele, is a community-based capacity-building program aimed at improving the socio-economic status of its participants.

Its two-track system helps micro-enterprises become financially successful and find suitable employment prospects.

Through the Community-Driven Enterprise Development strategy, the SLP empowers participants to actively contribute to the production and labor markets by looking at readily available resources and open markets. (PNA)
