The city government of Taguig granted a PHP100,000 cash incentive to its first centenarian who came from one of the enlisted men’s barrio or EMBO barangays which are now under its jurisdiction.

In a statement Thursday, Mayor Lani Cayetano identified the beneficiary as Maura Agripa, a resident of Barangay Post Proper Southside, who received the incentive during her 100th birthday on Sept. 26.

“(Si Lola Maura) ang kauna-unahang sentenaryo sa EMBO na nakatanggap ng cash gift na ito (Lola Maura is the first centenarian from the EMBO to receive this cash gift),” she said.

Cayetano said the incentive is part of Taguig’s “Caring City” agenda for centenarians.

She added centenarians will continue to receive this gift yearly as long as they are alive.

Aside from the PHP100,000 gift for centenarians, the city is also giving PHP3,000 to PHP10,000 to senior citizens who are yet to reach the age of 100.

Taguig is also providing free medicine and health care to residents suffering from diabetes, high blood and asthma; free nursing services; and free wheelchairs, canes and hearing aids to those needing it. (PNA)
