Davao and Manado, Indonesia are looking into potential areas for investments between both cities, an official of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCI) bared Wednesday.

“There were four items that were discussed and that we would like to push initially – agriculture, tourism, education, and information communication technology,” DCCCI president Belinda Torres said in a press briefing here.

The initial agreement occurred during an exploratory business mission to North Sulawesi, Indonesia, on Jan. 4, led by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).

MinDA said that along with Leading Edge Air Services Corporation (LEASCOR), several officers flew to Sulawesi on the firm’s 70-seater plane to assess the current market conditions and opportunities for reinstating the air route.

Torres said both cities agreed to establish partnerships with counterparts in various regions of their respective countries.

“However, what we are currently doing right now, is we are talking about who could spearhead those particular sectors and explore its possibilities,” she said.

Torres added that they are optimistic about various developments in Manado City, and hopeful that they could implement opportunities, particularly in business.

“During the discussion, we have validated what has happened in the previous years. There was also an exploratory mission before, but they said nobody returned to their city,” she said. (PNA)
