To bring government services closer to the people, the Benguet provincial government has brought the different national and local government offices to Sablan through the HEALTHIER caravan.

“We do this regularly. We visit the different municipalities for a day and bring along the different offices and their services to the residents,” Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas said in an interview on Friday while the teams were in Sabian municipality.

Diclas said the HEALTHIER caravan aligns with the province’s development thrust which stands for Health, Education, Agriculture, Livelihood, Tourism, Human Resource, Infrastructure, Environment, and Responsiveness.

The caravan’s services include minor surgery, circumcision, consultation, laboratory services, electrocardiogram (ECG), eye check-ups, dental care, paralegal services and distribution of food packs and seeds, among many others.

The provincial government also tagged along the National Bureau of Investigation that processed clearances, the Philippine Statistics Authority for the national identification registration and assessment of problematic documents, and brought Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) services.

Diclas, a medical doctor by profession, said the caravan was institutionalized last year to ease people’s burden of processing documents and spending to travel from their respective municipalities to the capital town or to Baguio, where national government offices are located. (PNA)
