The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Antique is gearing up to provide free training for around 5,900 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to become fire safety advocates.

Provincial Fire Marshall Supt. Patricio Collado said in an interview Wednesday that all the 18 fire stations in Antique will conduct one-day training for all SK officials who will cascade their learning to their members this month.

“The SKs will be trained on how to properly use fire extinguishers, common causes of fire, and how to prevent it,” Collado said.

Collado said that they have yet to set the schedule of the training, depending on the availability of the BFP and SK officials.

In addition to training the SK officials, the BFP has tentatively set a medical mission in the Municipality of San Remigio on Sept. 26, targeting 200 families in the remote Barangay Cabunga-an, while it also has an ongoing Adopt a Park program where the BFP personnel conduct coastal cleanup or tree planting activities in San Jose de Buenavista town.

Collado said that the BFP carries out the activity, for they are not only there to save lives and properties but are also good stewards of God’s creation. (PNA)
