A male child who was abandoned at a waiting shed near Mamburao Central School has been safely transferred to the care of his paternal grandparents.

The unnamed boy was discovered by Mamburao resident and barangay official Michael Pacal during a Facebook Live session.

“This child was found at the waiting shed of MCS (Mamburao Central School). He was earlier accompanied by a man wearing a blue shirt and camouflage pants,” Pacal stated in one of his Facebook posts.

In the child’s pocket was a handwritten letter requesting that he be brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office in San Pablo, Laguna.

Pacal immediately brought the child to the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (OMSWD) in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, in hopes of locating the boy’s father.

A CCTV footage posted by Pacal, which was captured by a barangay official, shows a man—later identified as the father—carrying the boy to the waiting shed and leaving him there after a few minutes.

Shortly after the boy was handed over to OMSWD, his paternal grandparents arrived at the office to pick him up.

“At this moment, he is now in the care of his grandparents, who live in Barahan, Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro. They are the parents of the man who left the child. It’s a long story, but the bottom line is that his grandparents do not approve of what happened,” Pacal stated in a Facebook post.
