The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)-Cordillera urged the public on Tuesday to register with the government’s health insurance service through the Konsulta Package (KP).

Dr. Dominga Gadgad, PhilHealth-Cordillera’s regional vice president, said “Konsulta” is aimed at helping the people to watch their health and stay well.

She shared that Mountain Province Representative Maximo Dalog Jr. has urged the PhilHealth to visit the far-flung communities, have the residents registered and subject them to the first patient encounter (FPE) where their medical and family health history will be obtained, provided physical check-up and if needed, be referred for a laboratory test or further treatment at a medical facility.

Gadgad said Local Health Insurance Offices (LHIOs) in the Cordillera provinces are joining the different government agencies and local government units in their information dissemination drive about the KP registration that PhilHealth members can avail for themselves and their families.

She added KP is a PhilHealth service that resulted from the Universal Health Care Law aimed at giving all Filipinos access to services that will help them attain good health and well-being.

“This way, we would know their condition and there will be a record of what they are going through if there is or if they are healthy, ensure that they will continue to be healthy. Basic maintenance medicines, if needed, will also be provided to patients for free and shouldered by the PHIC,” Gadgad said.

Based on record, PhilHealth-Cordillera has recorded an enrollment rate of 1,773,161 or about 95.2 percent of the 1.8 million residents in the region.

At the end of 2024, there were 850,359 who have registered with the KP who can avail of services from about 104 KP providers distributed in the provinces.

At least PHP1,039,786 has been released by PhilHealth to about 1,464 who have availed of the FPE, which costs PHP1,700 a year for every person. (PNA)
