The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) distributed over PHP3.3 million in relief assistance to families affected by the shear line in Camarines Sur and Catanduanes earlier this week.

In a report by the DSWD-5 on Friday, a total of 4,554 family food packs (FFPs) were distributed to residents in the villages of Matacla (1,688), Catagbacan (1,242), Tabgon (577), Balaynan (524) and San Isidro West (523).

DSWD-Bicol assured the public of the agency’s commitment to follow President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive of immediate relief assistance to families affected by the shear line.

The families were unable to earn a living for over a week, prompting the DSWD-Bicol to deliver essential food assistance to help meet their basic needs.

In Panganiban, Catanduanes, 265 families from three villages — Babaguan (62), Panay (102) and Maculiw (101) — also received food packs. Flooding isolated them and hindered their ability to work. (PNA)
