Local government units (LGUs) across the Northern Mindanao Region have launched proactive information campaigns and implemented various measures to prevent the spread of mpox (monkeypox) within their communities.

As of Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) said there is no mpox case in the region.

Still, the City Health Office (CHO) here and the Family Health Advocacy Home Partners included comprehensive information dissemination about mpox and prevention measures in their community outreach activities.

The CHO also issued an internal memorandum mandating the wearing of face masks and compliance with health protocols within city government establishments, particularly in public health facilities.

In Bukidnon, Malaybalay City Mayor Jay Warren confirmed zero case in the city but urged residents to remain vigilant.

“While the situation remains stable, the City Health Office encourages everyone to stay informed and take precautionary steps to ensure continued safety and well-being,” he said.

Similarly, Ozamiz City Mayor Henry Oaminal Jr. in Misamis Occidental issued an order enforcing the DOH circulars on the mandatory use of face masks, proper handwashing and clean hygiene practices.

The provinces of Lanao del Norte and Camiguin, through their respective provincial health offices, also released health advisories to prevent the possible contagion of mpox within their LGUs. (PNA)
