The municipal government of Bayambang, Pangasinan began distributing free school supplies to 17,429 grade school learners across its 53 public elementary schools on Tuesday.

The yearly initiative, started in 2016 and funded with PHP2 million from the Children’s Welfare Fund, provides papers, crayons, pens, pencils and notebooks tailored to each grade level.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao said the program aims to ease parents’ financial burdens for the upcoming school year.

“This is proof that we remain focused on achieving the education-for-all advocacy while ensuring the overall safety of the students in their second home,” Quiambao added.

Beyond student supplies, the municipal government also provided essential materials for “Brigada Eskwela” to all 57 public elementary and high schools in the town.

Large schools received three cans of semi-gloss latex paint, four roof paints, four blackboard paints and brushes, while medium-sized schools received two cans of latex paint, three roof paints and corresponding brushes.

Additionally, all public elementary schools in Bayambang will receive a new 75-inch television, funded by the town’s Special Education Fund. (PNA)
