Police personnel in Antique will have regular exercise starting this month and a quarterly physical fitness test.

Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) Information Officer Lt. Col. Willy Diel said in an interview Wednesday that their Provincial Director, Col. Lea Rose Peña, has instructed the conduct of Zumba dance exercise and other sports activities twice a week and a physical fitness test every quarter.

“The lady police personnel will be holding zumba dance exercises every Tuesday and Thursday,” he said.

Diel said the males will have basketball or other sports activities to keep themselves fit.

The quarterly physical fitness test will determine those overweight and obese who will have to observe a diet or find remedies to achieve their ideal weight.

“The regular exercise and physical fitness test adhere to the order of our Philippine National Police Chief Nicolas Torre III for the police to stay fit,” Diel said.

The personnel will be grouped according to their birth month for the physical fitness test. Those with birthdays falling between June and August will undergo the test on June 20.

Meanwhile, they are conducting an inventory of their needed equipment, such as communication equipment and body-worn cameras needed to comply with the five-minute response policy.

“We have limited equipment that hinders our immediate response,” he said. (PNA)
