In observance of the 14th Community Relations Service (CRS) Month, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Brooke’s Point District Jail carried out the outreach activity “Tulong sa Komunidad, Bayang Maunlad” at Amas Central Elementary School in Palawan.

The initiative underscores BJMP’s commitment to extend public service beyond the confines of correctional facilities and strengthen community ties.

Highlights of the program held Friday were read‑a‑book sessions for Grades 1 to 3, aimed at fostering early literacy and cultivating a lifelong love for reading among pupils.

Complementing the reading sessions, the “Sopas on Wheels: SO‑FAST” delivered over 200 bowls of sopas (soup) to the students, emphasizing BJMP’s understanding that nutritious meals are vital to supporting young learners’ growth and readiness in school.

“By combining volunteer‑driven reading sessions with essential nourishment, BJMP Brooke’s Point continues to build trust and compassion within the community,” Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo, information officer of BJMP-Mimaropa, said.

Through this effort, BJMP reaffirmed its dedication to a wider vision of public safety, one built on shared responsibility, societal advancement and genuine care for the welfare of its citizens. (PNA)
