The Department of Health (DOH) has set up an emergency medical facility to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for affected residents in Macabebe, Pampanga.

In a news release on Friday, the agency reported that the Domingo B. Flores District Hospital was shut down after the provincial government rendered the facility inoperable due to worsening floodwaters.

The DOH mobilized the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team 46 (PEMAT46) as residents from Macabebe, Sto. Tomas, and neighboring towns rely on the district hospital.

The deployed Type 1 Fixed Emergency Medical Tent served as a temporary but fully operational healthcare facility.

Services are provided free of charge, including consultations, medicines, laboratory and diagnostic procedures, admissions, surgeries, and other medical operations, the DOH said.

It added that the emergency tent is equipped with essential medical tools and manned by a highly trained team capable of delivering hospital-level care in emergency settings.

PEMAT46 is one of only three emergency medical teams in the Philippines verified by the World Health Organization.

Recognized for its advanced capacity and rapid deployment capability, PEMAT46 is authorized to respond not only to domestic disasters but also to international emergencies. The same team was recently deployed to Myanmar following a powerful earthquake.

The DOH urged residents needing medical care to visit the emergency medical tent while the district hospital remains closed. (PNA)
