A total of 455 scholarship slots for various skills and trades are being offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (TESDA-CSITE).

Among the skill sets that can be learned are bartending, electronics installation and maintenance, electronics assembly servicing, trainers methodology, food and beverage services, organic agriculture production, gas metal arc welding, masonry, and shielded metal act welding, among others, TESDA-CSITE scholarship focal person Beverly Cudli said in an interview on Tuesday.

“For specific trade skills, they are available at the five CSITE campuses — main campus at Military Cut-off and Loakan in Baguio City, Ifugao campus, Kalinga Campus, Mountain Province campus and Abra Campus,” she said.

The scholarships are under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), Tulong Trabaho Scholarship Program (TTSP), Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), and the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA).

The TTSP is a scholarship for displaced workers while the WSP is for an industry-specific training to upskill workers.

The UAQTEA, on the other hand, is for senior high school graduates who are taking up a three-year diploma course, while the STEP is a scholarship open to everyone interested to learn a skill in order to engage in business or find a livelihood.

CSITE was created under Republic Act 11192 passed in 2019.

CSITE is the training arm of the TESDA and scholars receive not just free training, but also free assessment and monetary allowance.

The diploma course also includes a book allowance. (PNA)
