Some 40 teachers of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Dauin, Negros Oriental are undergoing training on computer troubleshooting and other modern skills to allow them to adapt to evolving times.

The upskilling training, which started over the weekend, is a collaboration among the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Metro Dumaguete College (MDC), and the Dauin Local School Board.

“The training is designed to allow teachers to meet the challenges and opportunities at school, such as simple and basic computer troubleshooting, sound system maintenance, and basic electronics,” Bing Rotea Emperado, technical assistant to the president and concurrent external relations officer of MDC, said in an interview on Monday.

TESDA is the lead agency in the training, with the attendees coming from the Dauin DepEd District and the MDC, which is TESDA’s accredited training and assessment center.

MDC is also an accredited member of the Dauin Local School Board.

Emperado said teachers who complete the training have the opportunity to obtain TESDA’s National Certificate if they level up to a higher module.

The computer troubleshooting training will run for five days while basic sound system training will be held for four days. (PNA)
