The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region has assisted 124 street dwellers this year through its Pag-abot Program, officials reported Monday.

Nerjaya Mohammad, DSWD-11 program focal person, said the initiative reaches out to vulnerable individuals and families in street situations.

“We reach out to them and convince them to return to their communities or parents. For those outside Davao City, we provide financial assistance based on the social worker’s assessment,” Mohammad said.

One key component of the program is case management and service delivery, ensuring that beneficiaries receive appropriate interventions while being prepared for reintegration into their communities, he added.

Financial support can reach PHP10,000 per beneficiary, covering basic needs during transit or while awaiting reintegration.

Mohammad said the program started operations in April and ensures beneficiaries receive case management and appropriate interventions before returning to their communities. (PNA)
